I downloaded and installed Software-Promoter, but there are no sites listed. Do I have to load all the shareware sites manually?
Yes, you have ability to manually add software to the site definitions. HOWEVER, you can restore the original sites collection be using the filename "sites.xml" in your Software-Promoter directory. If you are registered customer, visit Software-Promoter resources where you can find the latest big up-to-date sites collection. If you have updated or added sites definitions, you can post a backup file to our support service and these definitions will be verified and added to the public sites library.
I cannot understand how to configure the macros and forms.
Step-by-step instruction:
- Add a new site.
- Go to products and submissions browser.
- Insert a new product submission for added site.
- Auto-form window will be opened with empty form list and you can manipulate auto-forms by commands presented in left top corner of window.
I added a new product and version. I then when entered all the download info, the EULA and distribution permissions. When I close the screen and go back the information is gone. However if I enter anything on the "Description" tab then everything gets saved.
Software-Promoter has a mechanism to an automatic clearing garbage in the descriptions (and other objects, of course). KillGarbage method evaluates descriptions with lengths 40, 80, 250. If all of these fields are empty, the description will erase. To use this description you need to fill out at least one of these fields.
