Installing Software-Promoter

Home > Software-Promoter > Software-Promoter docs > Software-Promoter manual > Installing Software-Promoter

System requirements

Software-Promoter requires any Win32-compatible OS to work (Windows 95, Windows 98, Windows ME, Windows NT, Windows 2000, Windows XP).

Software-Promoter also requires Microsoft Internet Explorer 5 or higher version. Other browsers such as Netscape or Opera are not compatible with Software-Promoter.

Installed e-mail client with MAPI support is preferred but it's not required. Software-Promoter may use MAPI interface to post e-mails and check inbox for new customer's info. Most e-mail clients supports MAPI such as MS Outlook (all versions, including Outlook Express), TheBat, Eudora, etc.

No database engines are required.

NOTE 1. Software-Promoter may be inoperable with XML parser included with MS Internet Explorer 4.

NOTE 2. Software-Promoter may not run correctly under Windows 95 (prior to Service Release 2).

Installation procedure

First, if any beta version of Software-Promoter is installed on your PC, uninstall it first. If you have installed previous version of Software-Promoter, backup file sp.xml. Run installation program spsetup.exe. Copy backed up file sp.xml to Software-Promoter folder if you want to work with your old data.

By default, Software-Promoter will installs into directory "/Program Files/Software-Promoter" at your system disk, but you can change this path to other. Software-Promoter is shipped with predefined sites database in sp.xml. If this file is empty on your PC, use Import/Export Wizard to restore sites collection from latest available from my site.
