E-mail templatesSoftware-Promoter gives you feature to send personalized macros-based E-mail messages to sites or to customers. This feature is useful for posting press releases, submission requests, and any notifications, greeting messages for new customers and for many other purposes. All Software-Promoter messages are compiled from templates. Templates are separated into two groups: submission-based templates and customer-based templates with difference set of macros. You can define any number of messages templates. Submission-based templates are used to send letters to sites contacts instead of auto-form using. Some sites do not accept on-line submission procedures and requires sending letter. In addition, it is useful to post press releases or any other invitations. Customer-based templates are used to notifying your customers of specified product (or all products) about any events. For example, it is very useful for invitations or holiday discounts or notifying about new product version. To open messages templates list use "Templates" button on left switching panel. You can use standard commands (Append, Open, Delete) to operate with message templates. Sites browser and products browser has a same commands called "Send message". You can post message from templates for customers or for site using these commands. All compiled messages will be collected in «Software-Promoter Outbox". You may decide to post it at any time, delete it or hold it in outbox for later posting. When you post messages, Software-Promoter uses SMTP or MAPI to send messages. NOTE: Software-Promoter is shipped with message templates samples for your needs. Working with outboxSoftware-Promoter maintains internal outbox to hold prepared e-mail messages before delivering. You can preview, hold or delete some messages before post. All messages in outbox are saves in sp.xml when you exit Software-Promoter. You can post it at next Software-Promoter work session. You have ability to edit any generated message directly in outbox before post it. Messages posting session can be aborted any time using "Stop" command. All another actions are disabled during posting session. Choosing outgoing E-mail protocolSoftware-Promoter supports two protocols for delivering outgoing e-mail messages: MAPI and SMTP. There are some details about both: MAPI uses installed MAPI provider such as Microsoft Outlook, TheBat or Eudora. Software-Promoter calls standard MAPI entry points and puts prepared messages into default MAPI outbox. Refer to documentation of your E-mail client software to ensure it supports MAPI. SMTP uses your ISP provider e-mail capabilities to deliver messages directly to POP3/IMAP mailboxes. Since version 3, ESMTP (SMTP with authentication) is implemented. There are "none", "plain", "login" and "CramMD5" authorization modes. Look to "Authorization mode" parameter in global preferences. You need to specify it, if you use a SMTP server requests it. NOTE for SMTP posting: due to internal SMTP protocol limitation ("pure SMTP") outgoing messages length is limited to 32K. All national character sets are supported correctly in built-in SMTP mailer. You can configure some other options for both protocols in "Global preferences". Prev Next === Documentation is provided by Word2Help === |
